The Sennheiser HD25’s are pretty much industry standard, although I am a Sennheiser HD280 man myself, most people go for the HD25’s. I prefer a much more closed back headphone because clubs are often noisy and the sound levels from your laptop might not be loud enough to hear over everything that is going on. Its all down to personal preference though, the HD280’s have lasted me for over 2 years with only the cord breaking once (replacement is free under warranty). They lool a little warn now, but still more than do the job.

They are also great for monitoring late at night when producing music. They are not overly bass heavy and are very comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Traktor is the most widely used piece of software for digital DJs. When used in conjunction with a midi controller and soundcard that supports monitoring it is very powerful indeed. It is reliable enough to use in a club as long as cooling is taken into consideration. Its relatively easy to learn, but like everything else, takes a few months of practice to really master.

It has a number built in effects and enables a DJ to concentrate on tune selection, rather than the ancient art-form if mixing two pieces of vinyl together. Here us a video of someone using Traktor with decks.
